Spider monkeys are New World primates that inhabit the rainforest regions of South America, Central America and Mexico. Their name comes from their extremely long spider-like limbs and prehensile tails, both of which make them one of the largest New World monkeys.

  • History: Believed to be the smartest of all the New World monkeys, spider monkeys are best known for their wide range of sounds and general hostility towards strangers. If disturbed, spider monkeys will make many different noises, including barking, whining, and screaming. They will even attempt to drop things such as tree branches on intruders.
  • Scientific Name: Genus Ateles
  • Characteristics: Precisely painted and meticulously crafted for accurate realism, this spider monkey toy model is an excellent addition to any wildlife figurine collection! Make sure that when you take this primate home it has something to swing from – spider monkeys spend almost all of their lives in trees!
  • Size: 3 inches long and 3 inches tall, our spider monkey toy model is a bit larger than a deck of cards stood on its side.
  • The Spider Monkey is part of the Wild Safari® Wildlife collection.
  • All of our products are Non-toxic and BPA free.

Our four-year-old immediately started wrapping the prehensile tail around his finger and laughed at how realistic it feels. The poseable limbs make it fun to hang from tree branches in his room, and it’s held up well to daily swinging adventures.

    Alexander ★★★★★

The prehensile tail bends and curls just like a real spider monkey’s, which makes it easy to pose in all sorts of playful tree-hanging positions. It’s sturdy enough for my kid to swing around without anything snapping, and the rainforest colors look great on the shelf.

    Hannah ★★★★☆

The little guy's limbs are so long and thin, just like a real spider monkey — my kid immediately started making it swing from our bookshelf. The tail is what sold me, it grips onto things nicely so it can hang upside down without falling. Wish the face had a bit more detail, but for the price it's a
