African Bull Elephant Toy

Did you know there are actually two different types of African elephant, including the bush elephant and the slightly smaller forest elephant? You can tell an African elephant from an Asian elephant by their ears, because an African elephant’s ears are shaped like Africa!

While conservation sanctuaries have been widely established throughout Africa, especially in recent years, both the African bush and forest elephant are suffering from a loss of their natural habitat. Not only that, but both species are one of the most commonly poached animals worldwide due to the value of their tusks in the ivory market, making it a challenging endeavor to stabilize and increase their population numbers.

Scientific Name: Genus Loxodonta

Characteristics: One of the smartest land animals on Earth, African elephants are both calm and gentle when they don’t feel threatened. In fact, African elephants are able to display various emotions, including sadness, compassion, gratefulness, and curiosity, which is reflected in this figurine’s emotive eyes.

Size: At 7.6 inches long, 2.3 inches wide and 4 inches tall. Professionally crafted and hand painted, this African Bull Elephant toy captures this African elephant’s dusty slate gray skin and pearlescent ivory tusks. The African Bull Elephant is part of the Wild Safari® Wildlife collection.
