Alpacas only exist as domesticated animals; no wild alpacas exist, although their wild cousins can be found roaming the Andes Mountains of South America. They are highly valued for their soft fur, much like their relations, llamas. However, alpacas are smaller than llamas.

  • Scientific Name: Vicugna pacos
  • Characteristics: Resembling a llama or camel, the smaller cousin displays the thick fur for which it’s famous. Alpacas have exploded in popularity and are now raised far from their home in the Andes Mountains.
  • Size and Color: A delightful combination of colors and textures completes the realism of this 3 ¾-inch-high alpaca figure. It’s also 3 ¾ inches long, making it about the size of a slice of bread.
  • The Alpaca is part of the Safari Farm team.
  • All of our products are Non-toxic and BPA free.

The little guy’s fur is impossibly soft, just like the real thing, and the fact that it’s a farm pet makes it a nice break from all the plastic toys. My son’s been carrying it around since it arrived, and it’s held up well to being dragged through the house all day.

    Penelope B. ★★★★★

My daughter lost it in the yard for three days and it came back looking just as fluffy, which says a lot about how well the fur holds up. The little stitched details on the face are surprisingly neat for a toy in this price range, and it's already become her bedtime buddy.

The fur on this alpaca is ridiculously soft, way more than I expected from a plush toy. It’s a nice touch that the tag mentions their wild cousins in the Andes, makes it feel a bit more special for a farm-themed gift. My kid hasn’t put it down all evening.
